June 2009 Newsletter: Summer Crafting!

Welcome to June
Summer fun (at least on this half of the world) is just around the corner! How is your summer crafting going? Let us know (and get some publicity at the same time).

Do you blog?
If so, let us cross post animal and/or craft related posts on the CFA guild blog. You'll get double the exposure :) Just let me know when you have an article to double post.

Do you have a pet?
Humans don't count :) but if you have any animals that you share a home with, send me a pic of them - I'll be highlighting member pets on the blog and you know they'd love the attention.

Check out FURPOWER!
Have you heard of Romeo the Cat? FURPOWER was started by Romeo the Cat and Pugsley too where $1 can make a difference in a furballs' life. Basically, each month she picks a cat friendly animal organization to sponsor as the FURPOWER organization. Then, donations made to Romeo the Cat during that month is donated to the FURPOWER organization. Last month's recipient was Beaufort Community Cat Project. Creative idea!

Any Artfire tips and tricks?
Have you learned a neat trick on artfire that you want to share? If so, let me know and I'll post it on our CFA guild blog.

For all those who haven't seen, Artfire has rolled out the Fusion Studios. Its an exhilarating change to the way customers can view your shop. You are provided with color options, banner size options, and side and bottom widgets. You can edit your studio by going to Edit My Studio.

Try placing our CFA Guild image in your right hand widget area (take a look at my shop for an example). If you need help, just let me know.

Welcome!

Please provide some artfire cheer to our latest new members: scamperingscotties, SecondHandNews, crescent-moon-creations, glassworksnorthwest, rosetreecreations and GlasstasticTreasures. Invite your friends by submitting their username here. That's a total of 39 members! You can also check out items made by our talented members here.

We need help to grow. The ideas are limitless but to get started, I'm looking for someone to help us with our flickr group and our membership list. We could also use help in maintaining CFA in various social websites.

Help CCAPS and enter contest!

http://acornalley.artfire.com (a fellow CFA member) has offered to donate 100% of the profits from sales of May at her Artfire and Etsy sites to the cats of the Columbia Country Animal Protection Society. To spur sales, she is holding a fun contest. Below, you will find what she has to say:

Over on my Wordpress blog, I blogged about my cat, Manny, in Manny the Rescue Cat - Part I and Part II. He had a tough life but still manages to be the sweetest cat ever, and I am blessed to have him.

Last month, I joined the Crafting for Animals Guild on Artfire. The idea was that I would donate a percentage of my profits to my local animal shelter, the Columbia Country Animal Protection Society. But I haven’t had any sales on Artfire, and so have had nothing to donate.

I want to remedy that this month. So, in honor of Manny, the most handsome cat in the world - even if he does have one eye, no teeth, and only part of a tail, I am holding a contest to encourage sales and traffic at my site. The prize is a beautiful pair of AA Peruvian chalcedony and apatite earrings inspired by the color of Manny’s remaining eye. Along with this, I am giving 100% of the profit from each item sold on my Artfire and Etsy sites to the cats of CCAPS this month.

There are different two ways to win; you can do one or both to increase your chances. The contest will go until May 31, and then I will draw a winner from the entrants.

1) Post a comment here or at my blog about your personal animal rescue experience or animal volunteerism. Make sure you give me contact information (email, blog link, etc) so I can reach you if you are the winner.

2) Order something from my Artfire site. You get a chance to win for each item you purchase. My Etsy site is fair game, too.

I will draw one name to be the winner at the end of the month.
